Education Management Information Systems, Inc.

Founded in 1984 in El Paso, Texas, by Bruce and Elba Collier. The company incorporated effective January 1, 2014. Since its inception, the goal of EdMIS has been to provide software tools and consulting and training services to auditors and accounting personnel working with local government entities. The emphasis of the AUDIT-L.E.A. software is on Texas school districts as are many of the CPE courses. Our aim is to provide these services to CPAs and personnel working with all types of local governments throughout the United States and its territories with the AUDIT-CITY software. The CPE courses are now taught by Elba Collier, Ph.D.  She has over 20 years of teaching experience at the university level and has presented CPE courses alone and with Bruce for more than 25 years. EdMIS has produced auditing and reporting software since 1985. We have the experience and the expertise to provide excellent products and effective training.

Bruce Collier earned his Ph.D. in accounting at Oklahoma State University and taught governmental accounting, auditing, managerial accounting, and accounting information systems for over 20 years at Oklahoma State University, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at El Paso and Eastern New Mexico University. He became a CPA in 1979. In 1991 he completed the AICPA's Certificate of Education Achievement in Governmental Accounting and Auditing.  Dr. Bruce Collier prepared and presented CPE courses for Texas School District Accounting and Auditing for the Texas Society of CPA’s, Texas Association of School Business Officials and for EdMIS for many years. Bruce passed away in November, 2017.

 

ELBA K. COLLIER, Ph.D.

Elba K. Collier earned a Ph.D. in economics from Duke University and taught courses in money and banking, macroeconomic theory, history of economic thought, and international economics for over 20 years at Texas Tech University, Duke University, University of North Carolina – Greensboro, The University of Texas at El Paso, Eastern New Mexico University and The University of Texas at Austin. She is a past-president of the Association for Social Economics and she served as President of the Southwest Economics Association in 2001.

Dr. Elba Collier developed AUDIT-T.E.A. in 1985 and has written all the updates since that time. The program name was changed to AUDIT-L.E.A. in 1996 and the software was completely rewritten in the Windows framework. She developed a new product, AUDIT-CITY, which was launched in 2004.

Dr. Elba Collier is the President of EdMIS, Inc. She has provided consulting services to many CPA firms and school districts on financial reporting and she teaches continuing education courses for EdMIS, Inc.  In addition to courses specificallly related to the software, she has continued the popular Texas Schools Accounting and Auditing Update course which was previously taught by Dr. Bruce Collier.  She has also prepared new courses for new and important GASB pronouncements affecting school district accounting, auditing and reporting.

 

Nathaniel A. Brown
- Current Vice-President

Nathaniel A. Brown earned a B.S. Digital and Photographic Engineering from Texas State University and has made a career in web site designs and programming.  He received the award for the outstanding graduating senior in the Department of Engineering in 2005.  In addition to his work with EdMIS, he serves as the web administrator for several academic associations and businesses. Nathaniel A. Brown has made significant contributions programming for EdMIS and we are pleased to have him as Vice-President and a share holder in EdMIS: Education Management Information Systems, Inc.
